                My identity is very important to me because this is what makes me, me. Identity is the components that make you who you are such as your personality. My identity is important to me because it shows what kind of person I am, it shows people where I came from and it is everyone’s first impression of me. I love showing my Identity in many ways but my favorite is through my family. I love them so much and would do anything for them because they took care of me and made sure I had a great childhood.

                Identity is made up of many components such as your personality, race, religion, family, profession, language, gender and your financial class. Every one of these components tell a little bit about the person. This is why Identity is so very important today. In the beginning of the passage the dentist says, “If you want to be American speak American. If you don’t like it go back to Mexico where you belong.”(Web 1). This quote shows us the identity of the dentist and the aggression that he has.

                One of the most important parts about identity to me is that the first impression shows people where I came from. Me personally I love for people to know where I came from and for people to see how I’m doing now. Where I come from there is little to no hope of going to college or even leaving that town.

“Home to Tame a Wild Tongue"

1)  In the opening scene of Anzaldua in the dentist’s chair is the plot of the whole passage. When Gloria Anzaldua was in the chair the dentist was telling her to hold her tongue.This is the theme of the passage.

2)  The Spanish writing throughout the writing is showing you where she coes from. Spanish is her first language in which her whole family speaks the language. The Spanish can be called the identity in her.

3) Many people can call English or Spanish the standard and call the urban style of talking can be described as nonstandard.

4) Speaking and writing in the Academic English is definitely necessary in this world. Just like in the passage you need to know how to speak and write proper English.

5) There are many types of English identities that I see everyday. For example there are many different identities I see in college then I see back at home.

6) There are many things that me and my brothers say different  back at home. For example, I would say,”Could you spot me”. This means can you get me something and I will pay you back.

7) When I am with my friends I speak nonstandard, but when I talk to my parents or my Professor I speak proper and with manors out of respect. This is how my mother raised me to be.

8) “I am my language”. This statement means a lot because your language is a part of your identity Your language tells where you come from.

9) Both the beginning and the end were both talking about how two different people had to hold their tongue. In the end it was the Mexicans and in the beginning it was Anzaldua.

10) Yes, the language that you speak is your identity. That is the way that you talk and the way you talk tells a lot about a person.

11) Identity is very important to me. At the end of the day to get a job in the world you have to have a good look and represent yourself with an great Identity.

1. I play football and I played this sport all my life. I love this sport, to me football is a lifestyle. Honestly football is the only reason why I am at this school.
2. There aren't many things that I do when I have free time, but I like to hang out with my friends and become better at football.
3. Honestly Professor Young I don't have a lie to tell you because I really don't like lying.
4. When I began to write I write some things on the paper mostly the introduction. After I do this I let the words flow and if they sound incorrect I edit it.
5. I would love to learn the proper way of writing. I know how to write but I really want to know the proper way to use these big words and but them all together to make sense.
6. The most recent book I read was “Things Fall Apart”.
7. I snapchat almost everyday.
8. I want to learn life lessons and how to better myself as a man.
9. Identity means many thing but to me it means what someone is made of or what someone is about.
10. The biggest problem that hits me hard is these young black men loosing there lives over nothing. This affects me everyday because I always have to stay aware of everything.
11. As a writer I would give myself a C.I would give myself this grade because when I write all the words make sense in my head but its difficult for me to put the words on the paper as they are in my head.
